So classical music lovers. There is just over a week left before London’s beloved Proms tickets go on sale.
7th may, 9am.
You can find and plan the concerts you want to go to here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/whats-on/2011/july-15
However, here at Concertphile, we’re keen to go to, and suggest the following concerts:
Prom 9, 7.30pm : Sibelius, Bartok and Janacek
- The programme includes Sibelius Scènes historiques – Suite No. 2 as well as his 7th symphony.
- It also includes Bartoks 3rd Piano Concerto and Janaceks Sinfonietta
Andras Schiff is on piano, and Mark Elder is conducting.
Prom 11, 7.30pm : Human Planet Prom
- “Big-screen video projections and excerpts from Nitin Sawhney’s score for the acclaimed landmark BBC One series Human Planet.”
Prom 29, 7.30pm : Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra plays Mahler
- The famous Simon Bolivar Orchestra from Venezuela play Mahler 2, accompanied by the National Youth Choir
Prom 58, 7pm : Mendelssohn – Elijah
- Gabrieli Consort and Players collaborate with 5 choirs.
Then there is obviously Proms in the Park which, although is hard to get tickets for, is definitely one of the highlights of the series.
If you’re interested in attending any of the Proms, and fancy joining forces with us here at Concertphile, do let us know. You can contact us on here (using the comments area) or on our Twitter page (@concertphile), or even on our Facebook page!
